Very cute. :thu

Here is something my FIL forwarded to me.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS ........
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation
from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10 On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. Take a moment today to thank GOD for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them.

I've seen that before. :thu

Rules for Puppies

The garbage collector is NOT stealing our stuff.

I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table.

I must shake the rainwater out of my fur BEFORE entering the house.

I will not eat the cats' food, before or after they eat it.

I will stop trying to find the few remaining pieces of clean carpet in the house when I am about to throw up.

I will not roll on dead birds, fish, rodents, etc.

"Kitty box crunchies" are not food.

And should I forget, I will not lick my human's face after eating "Kitty box crunchies".

The diaper pail is not a cookie jar.

I will not wake Mommy up by sticking my cold, wet nose against her bottom end.

I will not chew my human's toothbrush and not tell them.

I will not chew crayons or pens, especially not the red ones, or my people will think I am hemorrhaging.

When in the car, I will not insist on having the window rolled down when it's raining outside.

We do not have a doorbell. I will not bark each time I hear one on TV.

I will not steal my Mom's underwear and dance all over the back yard with it.

The sofa is not a face towel. Neither are Mom & Dad's laps.

My head does not belong in the refrigerator.

I will not bite the officer's hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and car registration.

Cute puppy!

Have you signed up for the first puppy training class?

With 2 Aussie Shepherds in the house, I can confidently say this...

Australian Shepherds do not have owners; they have staff.

Not yet. She isn't old enough or have any shots yet. She has an appt on May 27th for her first set of puppy shots. Then I'm waiting for the trainer to call me back to let me know if there's going to be any of the puppy kindergarten classes during the summer. The last one listed on their website starts May 30th, but they need to have atleast one set of shots minimum 5 days before class and so she wouldn't be able to go to that one.

They have agility training too! :thu

Rules #1... a tired puppy is a happy puppy! :thu 2hrs later of playing chase in the backyard and she finally crashed out.

I like watching her play too. It's interesting to see her herding instincts already coming out. She likes to stalk. All crouched down and half crawling. Oh and how she doesn't run behind you either. She follows at a distance at an angle. She is going to be a handful! :hide

To keep her from chewing unwanted items, a GoughNut is your friend. If she ever chews though to the red, send it back and you get a new one for the cost of shipping only! This is one of the few chew toys you can give to the pup and walk away without worrying if it will end up in her digestive tract. We have a black goughnut for Ansel...it's the second one so far.

Cute pup.

I might have to pick up one of those Mark. That fool dog of mine has destroyed every toy except one of those Kong chew things and a tire.

:confu Interesting. I might have to pick one of those up some day. I still have a Kong that is like 5yrs old that still alive. Its been through a lot. It survived rottweiler puppyhood and adulthood. She's been getting the Kong, as well as tennis balls, squeaky toys, and ropes.

Here she is passed out.

No worries there. Since it's a double dose of herding breeds, she's going to require lots of exercise and 'jobs' to keep her happy, and I have an 11 yr old son filled with as much energy. :thu Once old enough, there's a few parks (and a couple dog parks) in town as well. I can't wait for her to get some shots first so I can start socializing her.

The Kongs work really well too if you smear a little bit of peanut butter deep inside.

Yup. I stopped putting dog biscuits in it because the turd figured out how to get the thing out in 10 seconds. He's strong enough to smash it to the point to where the cookie falls out of it, eats the cookie, then throws the dang ball at me.

I like to put peanut butter in it and freeze it. Previous dogs have always eaten the PB out within minutes... but frozen...takes a good while and keeps'em busy.

And I still haven't heard back from the trainer who was suppose to call yesterday or today to let me know about summer puppy kindergarten class. I'll have to try calling again tomorrow.

Blue healers are smart but you have to keep them "busy".

A buddy of mine has a ranch near Madisonville and has several on his property. Great cow dogs but you have to find something for them to do or they will find something to do themselves and it may not be something you want them doing, LOL!

Yup! Pretty much all herding breeds need some kind of 'job' to do to keep them busy. Since australian shepherd and blue heelers are intelligent breeds and easy trained, I'm going to cross my fingers this girl will be smart since she's a mix of both, and maybe get her into agility or rally-obedience.
