Not sure. In NC you pay a tax based on value when you go to register it. Doesn't matter what you gave for it. Seller doesn't have to report a thing.

Some people only have one vehicle and cannot have the time between cars. Found that on a few deals. Taxes are another thing in some areas. One guy I knew in Az traded so his wife would not get the money before he bought another.

Of course, I always figure they will trade for cash.....
