BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Police say a traffic stop led to animal cruelty charges after they found a live cat "marinating" in oil and peppers in the trunk of a car.

Buffalo police say officers heard the cat meowing when they stopped 51-year-old Gary Korkuc of Cheektowaga to ticket him for running a stop sign Sunday night.

They say they checked the trunk and found 4-year-old Navarro in a cage, his fur covered with oil, crushed red peppers and chili peppers.

Police say Korkuc told them he did it because Navarro was ill-tempered. Korkuc was charged with cruelty and released; his phone number isn't listed.

Police say he told them he was going to cook Navarro. But they say Korkuc also complained that the neutered male cat got pregnant after he was spayed.

Animal advocates have cleaned Navarro and put him up for adoption.

I like peppers.

What kind of beverage would you drink with that? red or white wine? I mean, I have no idea if Cat is white or red meat and then toss in the marinade, I have no idea on this one.

I'm pretty sure a Caesar salad would be an appropriate first course.

White wine or a light beer. Cat is white meat, and tastes like chicken! :weas

I see you have been eating at some of Americas finest on those tour huh......

Here I thought we'd get responses from those in the south east part of the Country. I expected recipes from THEM.

Mel completely threw a curve ball!

Nah, cat's pretty much a western delicacy....

Now, the southeast would probably chime in if you wanted a recipe for say, candied sheep anus....

We don't eat pregnant Male cats down here. We do have some standards ya' know.

Ditto. We leave the domestic pets and fish bait[nb]sushi[/nb] to others. There are plenty of wild animals to shoot down here anyway.

I would say look to the far east for cat recipes. Many years ago, we had a feral cat problem in the area, until the Chinese restaurant moved in. :scar

Well, I figure hunger is a good reason to keep my cats in good health.

Really, when I was about 10 or so we were in Ensanada for the Baja 500 and I love street vendor tacos. I bought some for me and my brother along with some watermelon. We ate them and they were awesome. We both wondered what was in them as they tasted different, but awesome. I though I ordered beef and got chicken. Well, about an hour later we saw him in an alley butchering cats.

Gabby's brother recently lived in TJ and we've visited there more than I would have liked to. It's common knowledge that a LOT of the street vendors and even a good percentage of the smaller cafe stlye taco stands use cat/dog in place of beef. I good rule of thumb is to look for what appear to be a lot of locals eating at an establishment before placing your order.
