Having beef is great, Last night i was raking hay with a 100 year old rotten handled rake, the rake got stuck so i gave it a HARD pull, sending the pointed handle under the nail of my thumb the sliver was over an inch long and a bigger than 1/8''thick, after a 1/2 hour of tweezers/needles and scalple, this is how much is left, and since i'm w/o insurance & hate doctors, WOOD you cut the nail-or the skin by the nail??

Take a hammer....hit you left foot hard.....removes all pain from thumb while you operate.

I would work from under the nail....or the same way it went in if different than under the nail. But....I am no doc at all.

i thought about smashing the nail w/ a hammer & letting it die but i would prob. have blood poisoning by then.... 1 more crappy pic

I think the fuzzy pics are better, it would gross me out to see it clear and sharp. Not too much to say about what to do now, but in the future leather gloves does wonders to prevent splinters.

Whatever you do be very careful that you don't kill the nail bed.
