I should have stayed in California

Looking out my back door today and this is what I see. It has begun.

There are 2 stores open in California and I wish we had gotten the house on the market before this started. Hard to sell in Wisconsin during the winter.

Just realize you wouldn't get much a house out here for the same price you have in WI.

When I moved out here my new house was 300% higher in price than the one I had in St.Louis. Although difficult we made it work. Been here 25 years now and its been great.
That being said its where-ever you make your home that is the best not matter where. There are advantages and disadvantages to almost every where in the country. It all depends on ones perspective.

That's the biggest factor keeping us from moving to California right now. We would be about double the price for a similar house and I don't want to end up in a bad neighborhood just to afford a house.

you're in the right place, WI. It sucks here in CA. Traffic, illegal immigrants who are going to college on my tax dollars, fires, earthquakes, high gas prices.

Plus when we do get weather, everyone freaks out and the traffic is worse!

There are a lot of good things about wi, but for us the winters are killing us. We basically hibernate for 6 months. During the summer we like where we are.

Life here in Redding, CA is awesome. Very little traffic, we have rush minute in the morning. When everyone starts talking about how much higher houses are in CA, one thing that is not mentioned is that salaries are also higher here. If I made the same salary back home in South Dakota as I do here in Redding, I'd be living in a mansion on top of the hill.

There's no hibernating here. I drive the mustang pretty much every day. Now that I've replaced the leaky windshield gasket, I'll drive more in the rain. I do park the mustang when it gets above 105F and drive the truck with A/C. And, I do have to admit we hit a record cold temp the other day...about 30F.....brrrrrrrr. I almost had to break something out of the closet heavier than a jean jacket. I haven't even turned on the furnace in about 3 years.

Don't let people tell you how bad CA is...they just live in a bad part.

I have a position just open up in Anderson, we are discussing it as an option. The other one is in woodland.

I really wish our trip hadn't gone wrong. If Jen and alaina hadn't gotten sick on the last 3 days we would have made it over by you and bill down in sacramento too.

I am shocked.......You still own a jean jacket?

That is a bummer that you guys didn't make it over here...

When we first moved up here, we lived in Anderson. It's a nice small community, but still close enough to Redding, about 10 minutes south. And yes it takes less than 10 minutes to get there.

I realized that we had moved back to a small town (we had just moved up from Sacramento) when we went to the local Radio Shack for a part to wire the tv and stereo up, and they're closed on Sundays. That was a big shock coming up from Sac, where everything is open on Sundays. Redding has moved up in the world...the mall now has a Macy's!! LOL!!

And right now, is the time to buy a house here. The housing market is down. There's some great deals.

Come on down to Kansas, we only had a 1" of snow/ice last night!

I thought you said I wasn't allowed to come to Kansas?

We are only getting 2-3 inches so its nothing, but I just hope it doesn't get icy on the roads tonight.
I was supposed to to pick up the boat today, but I didn't want to drive it 40 miles in this crap.

If I said that, it must have been while I was in a sleep deprived catatonic state of mind. We don't allow left coasters. Northern-ers are still welcomed.

If living in CA was easy and affordable, everyone would be here.

Can you blame old Bessie for leaving?
Speaking of cows, we saw these on our drive up the coast and then a cow crossing sign. Do they fall down the hill often. :skul

You guys have it all wrong. It's not the increase of housing that will impact your pocket book if you move to Cali. It's the suddenly large bar bill to keep me happy.

I guess I can pick up a couple part time jobs for that plus all the favors I will have to call in to get my car running again and keep it from falling apart.
