I usually don't buy extended warranty but

I am glad I bought it on the 09 Murano---had it in for an oil change and both head gaskets were leaking--I am past the powertrain warranty so it is $50 deductable for the extended warranty, Nissan knows there was a problem on the 09's and has done nothing, the wife has had good luck with most of the other Nissans but I am not sure about future ones. I think I might see an Edge in the crystal ball next trade.

I have not had one bit of interest in Datsun/Nissan since 1976. They build crap n this example shows it. I have rented several n continue to be unimpressed. Get rid of it sooner rather than later!

I was VERY leery of them for a long time. When they came out in '87 with the Pathfinder I went and looked at one (and eventually bought it!). After putting 150k miles on it before selling, the only thing I ever did, other than routine maintenance, was replaced a broken speedo cable and changed the lifters once! The biggest downside was EVERYTHING cost $100! I bought a set of lifters.....$100. I bought a speedo cable....$100. I bought the factory rear window wing.....$100. I asked about a set of plug wires. Yep, $100!!!

I've had 2 240sx (90 and 97). Both were great cars. The 90 gave me a few issues since it had 200k miles on it by the time I traded it in on the 97. The 97 didn't start having problems till 130k, and those were minor. These both have the ka 4 cyl.
My brother and dad both own frontier crew cabs, no real issues out of those either(craptastic gas mileage excluded) that I've heard. Both with the vq v6, which I think is the same one in yours. I'll ask them if they've had any leaks.

This is supposedly linked to 09's--I have heard two stories---one was bad gaskets, other was improper torque on bolts--who knows.
as for overall quality of Nissan I have had pretty good luck, the local Lincoln/Mercury (used to be that) picked up Nissan probably 10 or more years ago and it probably saved the dealership, I have had several Maximas and they were fun (and fast) to drive.

I owned an early 90's model 240SX (don't remember the exact year) but it was a great car. Drove it for six years and the only thing I had to do to it besides oil changes was replace the brake pads once. I used to drive that thing like I had stolen it and never a bit of trouble. Only reason I traded it in is the twins came along.

My dad owned an '87 Nissan truck and put over 200k on it. We never had to do a thing to it other than routine maintenance. We had to put a clutch in it one time but that was his fault...he was selling boats at the time and pulling big boats around burned up the clutch.

89-90 240sx had the sohc ka24e motor, 91-98 240sx, the dohc ka24de mill. Both engines were outstanding and could take a beating. The hard body trucks had the same motors, with the exception of the early years.

I miss my 97 240sx. Kinda wish I still had it.

Often still wish I had mine also. I had the hatch back one, never really cared for the model that had a trunk.

I've looked at used ones a couple of times but they have gotten pricey since the drifters like them.

My buddy said he had one in his shop a while back and said it was cheaper to convert the car to an LS1 motor then it was to try and have the factory Nissan motor rebuilt. Apparently, the Nissan motors are mucho expensive to rebuilt....
