Posted 2 ads - one for the "Currie 9" Housing & axles - $500", the 2nd for the "9" Center 3.50/Auburn - $100".

So far, I have ONE good response, who is coming by Sunday.

Plus 4 different guys who want to send me a cashier's check and their agent will arrange transport... Yeah RIGHT.
Of course my ads state "LOCAL SALE ONLY. WILL NOT SHIP. CASH ON PICK UP."
I just tell them to send the check to my work address:
FBI Fraud Unit
1300 Summit Street
Kansas City, MO 64105
Never have heard back from any of them. :shrug

Then yesterday / today, I get this gem of a guy: (kcmoman@aol.com if anybody wants to sign him up on gay porn sites...)
In response to the $500 housing/axle ad: offer $50. (yes, that's the ENTIRE email)
In response the the 3.50/Auburn ad: looks like reg old open 9" (yes, that's the ENTIRE email)

I respond with:
It's not an open diff. Look at the ribs on the hat end for a clue.
It's an Auburn cone type. I know what it is.
And NO, I'm not interested in your $50 "offer" for the $500 housing.

I get back:
> Dude you come across as a jerk just trying to find out some info on your
> part. I will not stoop to your level. I'll pray for YOU good luck. Oh and
> that's fine on the $50.00 offer but most would respond with counter offer
> not a nasty note. Tell your wife you had it sold but blew it!

:wtf

Whatever. Life's too short to deal with strokers like you.
Goodbye.

Added to blocked email list.....

Next time I have spare parts, I think I'll just throw them in the trash and call it a day. Save a lot of grief.
[deep breath]
Ah, I feel better now. :roul

hehehe, I was shopping for a truck for my Son-in-Law a while back and I would get info from them and the address and when I got to one of the ones I thought would be a good one and the truck was in parts. The add and the info he gave me led me to believe that it was put together. That he took the bed off to replace the fuel pumps and filters.

Hehehe

When I got there the shell was in one place the bed in another the cab-chassis in yet another and the engine was disassembled.

He wanted this huge amount of money based on the parts he put in it. I said that is great, but it is still in pieces! I told him as it was it was only worth the scrap price to me. If he wanted to put it together I would entertain coming back and driving it.

He called after we got a car for my Son-in-Law.

Is the guy you mention Mel also trying to sell an '80 Trans Am in the Spring, Texas area?

I went and looked at one where the guy claimed he had a parts car to go with the main car that "he got running".

The "running" car needed to be completely stripped and restored from the ground up. The parts car was a stripped out shell that I may have been able to get $150 for it from a scrap metal guy I know but that would be if I was lucky and didn't have to pay to have the "parts car" hauled off.

O'yeah, and the guy wanted $5k...LOL! I can find cars that are really running and driving for $5k. I offered him $2k and he turned me down, glad he did I like the one I have now much better and don't have to tear it completely down to rebuild everything.

Dip stick relisted his "running car" recently for $4,199 or something.

I bet he wonders who keeps flagging his ad :roll

Bob, do you know if the 3.50 gears are any good? Is the case in good shape? If so, I might take it and save you some grief!

Mark -
The gears look perfect and had no noise. The only noises this made were because of the slipping Auburn. Throw it out, and you've got a PERFECTLY good case & gears.

Make me any offer - I won't refuse it, just to spite all the asshats I've been dealing with...
...And we're REAL close to the housing & axles ending up in Tarafied's Stangfix drag car. Money-losing deal for me, but it goes to a good cause, and I'm about tired of all the crap now anyway (obviously!)! :pbj

In all fairness though...I've found a lot of really good stuff on Craigslist.

Good place to buy things but I refuse to sell on there due to idiots that come out of the woodwork.

I've found Fleabay is a better way to sell small stuff that can be shipped at a reasonable price.

Ok I'm joking. There would be no photographs of the painting process included. :nut

I am pretty sure that rear end won't fit in a PT Cruiser.

Sure it will, if you fold down the rear seats and the passenger front seat. You may have to slam the rear door a bit....

Wow some REALLY tempting offers... :hide :gs

Mark tried to negotiate me up, but I kept dropping the price.. Finally, I ended up owing him a motor, and he's sending me a fake cashier's check. I think we both got hosed. :char

Then he tried to counter the boob-painting offer with a penis pen&ink, but if I wanted something that small, I figured that I'd just buy a postage stamp for .42 instead... :nut :wtf :thu

Coopers used to certify the loto results after observation of the number drawing.

If I needed to do so as a CPA, I would take some for the team and after observation verify the paintings as authentic and certify them as such :part

Life's too short. I have sold quite a few things on CL. Simply hit the delete button on the dumb asses.
