OK...let's start out last Sunday. Drive 82 miles to a hotel close to Eglin AFB to begin work at 7AM Monday. Arrive on the scene, and they close up the base for Hurricane Ida. Drive 72 miles back to work that AM.
Wednesday: drive 82 miles to another hotel to resume work Thursday AM. This time, the hotel is 20 miles away. Total drive time on Thursday: 50 miles.
Friday: Drive to Dallas, TX for the MCA Board Meeting: 660 miles.
Saturday: Drive from hotel to meeting: 60 miles one way. Return to hotel that night.
Sunday: Drive from Dallas, TX to hotel next to Eglin AFB, 660 miles. Expect 50 miles driving each day for Monday through Thursday, and a 80 mile return trip home on Friday AM.
My usual commute is 14 miles one way.
Total for the week: something on the order of 2200 miles so far, averaging 25 mpg. Thankfully, I had Sirius radio to help the boredom. Although my butt is fine, my neck and shoulders hurt terribly from the long drives. I'm hoping the adult beverages can help reduce the pain.
