In search of that trademark Mustang sound

I think a fox body mustang has the most distinctive sound. I love it. However, I've got a 351w. I don't want it to sound like a truck, so what mufflers. I don't car if it stupid loud as long as it has that distinct Mustang sound. What's everybodys opinion?

Might take a run through the 'sound bites' thread pinned up top of this exhaust forum to see if anything floats your boat, if you haven't already. Sorry, can't help with the Fox tone.

I'm contemplating dynomax bullets. I'm going to do 3inch exhaust and dump it before the rear axle.

Your car sure sounded good.

True, but you couldn't carry on a conversation with a passenger! Not that I cared about that.

Me neither, don't care to hear my wife nag :skul :roul

I have the dynomax race bullets also. The shop installed (2) 10* degree bends in my pipes - (1) entering and (1) exiting the "muffler" to muffle the sound a little more. They are still a little loud, but they sound AWESOME. I have a sound clip in the exhaust thread also.

Yeah, I listened to yours also. I dig it :thu

I think I'm going to try running 3 inch pipes with as big a H-pipe as I can fit into dumped bullets. If it's too loud, I'll add a set of 40's behind that. It sounds reasonable to me right now :steer
Of course, I need to get the car finished for an engine, but thinking about the future of the car helps keep the dream alive :roll

Wow. 3" is a whole lotta pipe...

Exhaust shop charges the same for 2, 2.5, or 3 inch exhaust. Might as well go 3inch in case I want to add cubes in the future.

But too big of exhaust can decrease the performance of a motor if its not needed.
