Intake help

I have an edlebrock performer intake on a 302 40 over roller with a pretty big cam, I want to change it out while my intakes off, because I'm having problems with one of the cylinders. Has a 2200-2800 stall converter. Anyone try out the air gap intake or even a ford racing intake? I like the enduroshine edlebrock intakes but want to get the most out of my motor. :thum

278-550 lift comp cams
Afr 165s
Holly street avenger 670
I have a true 10-1 compression ratio
3.25 gears

If you haven't already pulled the present intake, I suggest getting a clearance measurement to see what room you have between the top of your air cleaner and hood. The air-gap will be taller.

Also, all the data I have seen on the Air-Gap shows minimal power improvement over your present intake. Nothing near "seat-of-the-pants" level.

So really you won't see any difference over performer vs rpm, as far as seat of your pants difference ?

I will be upfront and say I never run an Air-gap intake myself. I loved the premise of it when I first heard about them and did as much research as I could to see if it really was a good improvement. Here is what I typically found at the end of each search.

Roughly a 1% power gain versus the challenges of increased engine height don;t seem to add up. Especially when you find that adding the same effective height to your present intake in the form of a good carb spacer can gain you as much or more.

He said he had a Performer, not a Performer RPM - So I think he would feel a power increase. Any height issues can usually be dealt with by changing the base of the air cleaner.

My recommendation would be the Weiand Stealth. It fit under the hood of my 66 with a Demon 650, 1/2" spacer, and a 14" X 2.5" WIX filter on a 1" drop base, IIRC. . .

Dollar for dollar the performer rpm is best choice I think I'm gonna buy that one. Has to be better for my car rather then the stock eddy performer I have on there. Air gap seems to be not worth the extra coin.
I have no clearance issues I have a 3" cowl
