Intake manifold progress pics

With soccer season over and with less pressure at work, I have finally started to install my Weiand Stealth manifold and my Summit 600 cfm carb. It is a slow process since I don't know what I am doing. I have also had to make multiple trips to OSH to get brass fittings for the vacuum and coolant lines that fit somewhat correctly.

I did not use the cork gaskets that came with my FelPro 1250 gasket set. I hope I put enough permatex down to make a good seal. there is a bit that squished out when my son and I torqued the manifold down.

I need to get a smaller diameter hose to run from the PCV valve to the new carb as well bend the fuel line to meet up with the hard dual-feed line for the carb. I also need to get the ford automatic trans kickdown linkage for the carb, though I think the kickdown cable is broken.
 
Glad you made it through soccer season and working on the Stang is falling back in to place where it is enjoyable again.

Looks good. I like the valve covers too. Here's a tip: Spray the intake with silicone spray so you don't get that crusty oxidized aluminum look.

Thanks for the compliments. I did the valve covers a several years ago. I had the itch to do some work on the car but no extra cash, so I did them by hand. My masking job around the letters was not the smoothest. I have the artistic skills and penmanship of a three year old.

What sort of silicone spray do you recommend? I don't want to use the stuff that will turn yellow with age.
 
The valve covers have that old school look, nice. The last can I bought was CRC 100% silicone spray, other companies make it as well. It will prevent oxidation. The stuff that turns yellow with age is a clearcoat spray, like paint. I just tore my engine apart after sitting for 5 years and the silicone kept it looking new. If you regularly put the part through heat cycles it will still work but may need to be re-applied from time to time. Years ago I had a 67 Cougar and the previous owner sprayed the headers, in car, with silicone. When I removed the headers I could see where the silicone ran down the tubes because there was rust everywhere the silicone didn't run.
