Interesting/Odd looking Twin Turbo/Super Charger set up...

Have you ever seen a setup like this? The turbo is what spins the centrifugal super charger? Appears to be direct coupled.

Would the exhaust/turbo lag cause performance issues with the centrifugal charger?

Just thought this was interesting and odd looking. Thoughts?

I don't see anything too abnormal about the turbo, itself. That looks like a normal turbo setup to me. Turbo's work like a centrifugal supercharger, except that it's the exhaust flow that spins the compressor, instead of a fan belt. What I find different is that the turbo is acting like an induced draft fan. Pulling the air and fuel through the carb then the turbo. I've normally seen them act more like a forced draft, which forces more air through the top of the carb.

The turbos are simply driving the superchargers...they aren't involved with the incoming air/fuel at all.

OK. Retract my last comment. Just looked a little closer at the pic. Those are just a normal turbo set-up...at least as far as the "fans" go.

There is no supercharger there, just two turbos. He simply elected to pull the air/fuel through the compressor instead of forcing air through the carb. Pretty cool rod there.

I'm dig'n that steering linkage!

Cowl steering. It's what I plan to do as well. Build a frame system, under the cowl, that ties into the main chassis frame, tuck the gear box up under the dash. And run linkage as shown. I LOVE that look.

Didn't notice that initially. That's different. So, I take it that the steering box in under the dash???

I really do like that, not something you see every day :coo

Cool looking rod. Should be scarry fast. The pull through turbo setup used to be a more common setup, but it has turbo lag issues. Couple of guys in college had them, once spooled up, they moved. Floor it from idle, and you'd be waiting a few seconds.

One thing I always get a kick out of on these old school looking hot rods though - check out the high braking from the disks vs the skinny a$$ bias ply tires. Lock up the front tires, anyone?
