Interesting WWII facts; Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant

My Dad worked there..........since he had a bad ear and could not get into the military. He was a sheet metal riveter inside the tail boom of the P-38's. That entire thing was highly classified "back in the day".

You're the son of Rosey the Riveter???

That area is now a shopping center. To 'tribute' the plant, they have little poles with P-38s, Constellations and other aircraft on them.

More trivia.....

What was the last name of the brothers who started that Aircraft company?

Their first business which provided the cash flow for the expensive hobby of aircraft building?

You beat me to it, Pete.

My mom and stepdad are both Lockheed retirees. We used to live right under the flight path of the Lockheed Air Terminal (about 1/2 mile away), now called Bob Hope Airport.
