Interior knobs

I am in the market for a new convertible top power switch knob. Mine is looking its age. I can't seem to find just the knob and am expanding the search to aftermarket knobs. I am away from the car so I can't check right now but was wondering if anyone knew the diameter of the shaft on the knobs?

Another thing I was curious about is the headlight switch knob. Can it be removed or is it permanently attached?

Thanks in advance.

Virginia Mustang makes a repro '68 convert switch with knob. Not sure if the knob is available separately. The headlight knob is removable. To do so you need to locate the release button on the side of the switch behind the dash board, press and hold the button while pulling the knob out completely.

Is the headlight knob removable from the headlight shaft though?

Yea, I'm not in the market for the entire shaft. I am thinking if I go for an aftermarket top know I "might as well" get a matching knob for the headlight. I'll chek with Virginia Mustang to see if they carry just the knob.

I would only be concerned with changing the knob to another kind. If the knob does not come off the headlight shaft I won't mess with it. I guess I will have to play around with it tonight.

It looks like the headlight knob could come off if you have a grinder handy. Mine is in great shape so I decided to keep it. I did order new bezels for the headlight and ignition swithes since mine are showing small scratches in the originals (my first purchase through Virginia Mustang). I also purchased the tool to install and remove the ignition switch bezel. I got the old one out without screwing it up but I just don't want to scratch the dash after I repaint it.

I could not find a place that sold just the knob for the convertible top so I ordered an aftermarket one from Billet Specialties that will match well with the original headlight knob and the shifter boot bezel on my car. I'll post some pics once I get it painted and put back together.
