IRS

Always on vacation!
IIRC the late model Mustangs up to 2004 had IRS.

Question is will they fit under a 65? If so what has to be done?

Only 99-04 Cobras had IRS. No idea what it would take to retrofit, but I'm sure it isn't an easy swap.

Heidts makes a set up available aftermarket. You can seriously customize it (read big $$$$).

G Tech Cars ( a member here ) makes some brackets and installs them if your seriously interested.

Yep, I was looking at those....Um, way out of my price range....Kinda trying to figure out what I am going to do this winter on the car. thought if I got a junk yard dog of a car for a donor and yanked as much as I can and start putting it on....

Alas I will likely stick to stripping paint and working on interior. Maybe new leafs in rear....

Mel,
The Cobra IRS will fit in our cars with the proper brackets. You can DIY it and look up a thread by Latamud on the VMF, where he has pictures of his install. You can also look up DVS Restorations, as they sell brackets for the install. IIRC they were about $500 for the brackets though. http://www.davestriblingrestorations.co ... 7&Itemid=8

You'd have to talk with Dave to get the price for just the brackets, as it appears he now sells the conversion kits.

Thanks, This will really help...

Since my radio doesn't work in my 65, I get some time to think....I know dangerous....I wonder if one of the Corvette rear would fit or could be made to fit....I prefer all Ford parts, but my SIL has some extensive experience with the Corvette rear ends and I am sure it wouldn't take much to get him involved....

Another option, which is the design that Ford did when these cars were built. It was never put into production due to costs. http://mustangirs.com/products.php

Still not very cheap though, and would imagine the Heidts would be a better piece with more recent engineering....one would think anyways
