is a bare (wanna be) hipo block worth anything?

So my block is a replacement Hipo block. Are they worth anything? I am not sure of the bore and it doesn't appear to be sleeved. Just trying to weigh all my options with this engine rebuild.

I am thinking about selling it and buying a 5.0 or another 289/302. Trying to figure out which way would be cheaper.

The casting number alone will not identify this as a hipo block. Does it have the larger main bearing caps?

I would say it is a plain jane 289. The rear main cap has a casting number of C20 E-B. The crank and rods have C3AE cast into them. I just googled what i took a pic of and everything that came up was hipo.

Agree, it's a plain jane 289 cast Oct 19, 1966. A standard bore 289 block has value to the guy who needs it. Advertise it with the casting date and you might get lucky, ya never know.

I learned tonight to check the pistons for the bore. My pistons have a 40 stamped in the top. So the block is worthless. Once again my car wins.
