Is the spotted owl extinct ?

ROLF! Here I was busy working and I get a call from an old lady who's phone ID told me that it was a local retirement home, who asked "Can you tell me if the Spotted Owl is extinct?" Huh? Who is this? Sure enough her call was legit but for some reason she got my number because my company is named after a local California bird, the Avocetta Americana. I told her I knew of a guy back east who wished it was extinct. Nevertheless, I was a nice guy and looked online for a couple phone numbers she could call.
