It figures....

Sometimes I really hate Wal-mart trying to take over the world.

They moved into the small town I went to college in and pretty much shut everybody else down...the grocery store I worked at had to close because of them. Luckily, I didn't work there any longer due to taking a different job but still.

Well if you bother to price funerals and realize how they ripp your family off on your behalf I'd say planning ahead isn't wrong.

Heck years ago my father suprised me by saying he doesn't want to take up room on this earth after he's gone and wanted to be cremated. He got his wish. Not saying that's not frought with rip-off also but at least Mom didn't pay for a chrome handle huge box....only a small one.

I am not a huge wal mart fan but I also don't care for funeral homes, my mother pre-planned her arrangement just before she passed away 7 years ago, pretty much middle of the road service, over 8 grand, the visitation was in our local church and funeral was graveside, the funeral director gave the church like $250 for the use of it--what a joke, the wife and I both plan on cremation with no services.

Same here, my Dad said he had handled all the arrangements as far as cremation and burial. We found out after his passing that he optted for the fat cardboard tube that said "Human Remains" on what looked like crime scene tape (I'm sure they trashed it up for the guilt trip on the kid's) anyway we sprung for the oak box with the gold handles as a upgrade. Rest well Pop's.

The wife and I have discussed this. I see no point in my earthly remains spending eternity in an overpriced box, taking up space in an overpriced piece of ground, in the shadow of an overpriced headstone. I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered on the banks of the Buffalo River, which is my favorite place on this earth.
