Funny (ok maybe not) story about the Mustang.

I know someone in local car circles who has expressed an interest in the Mustang. My reply has always been make me an offer, if it's decent I might take it if it's low I'd probably tell you to go jump in the lake.

Keep in mind here that I am not trying to sell the car but if someone were stupid enough to offer me an insane price I am pretty sure I could build another one if the price was right.

At any rate, the guy won't actually make me an offer just keeps asking me how much I want for a car I am not holding out for sale. :wtf

I finally decided I'm just going to tell him $20k....or should I say $25k? LOL! Hey, there is a sucker born every minute right? :roll

How about...my friend Kat from College Station valued my car at $24,684.13 :shrug
 
Give him a price that you'd be willing to sell it for. I tell people $40K when they axe about my 66.
 
I get offers for my fastback all the time. My gf made me put the cover on it because we literally had 2-3 people a week coming up to the door to ask if it was for sale, and if so, how much? I told her to tell everyone $25k, because it's not worth quite that much. I figure if I can get $25k out of it, I can afford to pick up the '69 sports roof cleveland car I really want:D

The last guy that came up to the door had the nerve to be insulted at my offer. He asked if it was for sale, I said no. He asked if I'd sell it if someone made me a really good offer, I told him $25k. He got all miffed and said something about it not being worth that much. I glared at him and reminded him that I'm not the one trying to sell it.
 
It wasn't an offer on my '66.. but when I was driving hubbys '94 chebby truck to work at the car lot I had a guy come in asking about it. I told him it's my personal vehicle and not for sale. He was like tell me some #'s .. umm ok. So I told him 3000 cash. He was like no way. I'll give ya 1500 for it. I told him sorry 3k or nothing. He started in how he's a wholesaler, he only buys vehicles at wholesale prices, and wholesale price on a pickup like that is 1500. I was like uh ok that's nice dude but this is my truck and I don't have to sell it. He was really insistent and buying it and went up to whole 1700 :no on it and kept trying to tell me the truck isn't worth 3k. Which of course I told him (1) You'll buy it for 1700 and turn around and sell it for 3000 or more (2) you're the one wanting to buy it and (3) I'm not even trying to sell the truck. He eventually backed off and said if I change my mind give him a call... and I laughed at said only if you come up to 3000.
 
Tell him that the price is $25k. When he is responding thats to much there is always the good answer: Now it`s $30k just for you!

Part of me wouldn't mind selling it eventually to fund a new project. I've had the car around 3 to 4 years and get kind of bored with it sometimes.

I wouldn't mind picking up a late 80's or early 90's Fox body to play with or a late 60's model Stang.

However, a part of me is attached to the car since I have a lot of blood, sweat and tears in it.

So unless it was a REALLY good offer....

I was planning on keeping it and eventually finding an AOD to put in it, adding AC, etc.

When the boys get older and can drive I've considered just putting a fuel injected motor and AOD in it then using it as a DD. Once they start driving I'll need more parking or fewer cars around my place and using the Mustang as a DD would mean one less car around. They could use my Explorer or we could sell off the Explorer and buy them something different. They really want an '05 to '10 Mustang...in six years from now I could probably pick up an '05 pretty reasonable.
