Job hunting frustration

I'm just so frickin' frustrated. We are trying to move to Orange County (as we can't stand L.A. anymore) and while I still have a job, I'm having a very frustrating time locating a job. Not that they aren't out there but there are jobs that I have applied for that I feel I make what I can see is a perfect fit and yet they don't even call for an interview. And the job postings are still there....for weeks! I can only believe that I make too much. My only thing is that these jobs are requiring 5-7 years of experience (I have 8) as well as supervisory experience (5 years of that) and they want to pay less than what I'm making? That's crazy. I don't think I make over what the job should pay....I dunno. I'm just frustrated. I know, I know, I'm lucky to have a job and I am grateful for it. I don't have any plans on quitting until I get a new one, but it's been so long since I applied for a job (before my current one) that the hiring system is different. Everything is online now. No phone numbers, no contacts. I can only hope that my resume gets to the eyes that it needs to.
Sorry....just needed to vent.

Dude I hear where you are coming from. It has become more a online hiring thing now. Funny thing is the last 2 jobs that I have had, including my current one, is that they found me first. I had my resume on monster.com, they saw it and contacted me. But the thing is right now with so many out there looking for work companies can really pick and choose and pay less. I am making more per hour than I was before, but overall less because now I have to provide my own work vehicle. Also the benefits are also not as good as I had before. So when you find another position make sure you look at the big picture, salary/bucks per hour is not everything, you have to look at the benefits as well. Living in the OC as compared to LA: no brainer. :dh

The job market sucks out loud right now. I'm just glad I'm still working.
My current job literally came out of nowhere. I wasn't looking, just updated my resume on monster and careerbuilder. Then I get a phone call about a position making more money, no real out of town work, paid mileage. Given were I was working, I took it. It still doesn't pay what it should, but it's more than I was making and I have more time at home since I can work from the house for a good portion of my workload. But the bummer about this job is that the benifits are absolute crap. I can't even find a dentist that takes my insurance. Would I go back to my old job? Not unless I absolutely had to.
Been working with the new company for 2 years, and they've already sent out a mass email at the beginning of the year "due to budget cuts and poor economy, no raises". Oh well, at least I get a check twice a month.
