Jury Duty

I got the "summons" about 6 weeks ago that I have been selected. Some are so offended that they have to "waste their time" serving. They will say this or wear an offensive shirt to get out. Whatever. To me it is a day off to sit around and chill. Seems that so many are offended by kaperdick protest, cause he disrespecting the flag. In my opinion this is part of your duty as an American to serve your community.
I live in Riverside CA, and the way it is done here on the summons is your jury badge number. You can make a phone call, but who does that when a web page is available. Go to the cities jurors website plug in your stinking badge number and birthday. It will give you the check back tomorrow after 6:30pm or that you have to report message. So here I am.

First time I went I was selected and ended up as the jury foreman (I had a funeral to go to so I had a coat and tie on, looked "official" they told me). Was on a trial for a week and it was a great experience. Had to report the next week also and was the first name picked! Didn't make the cut that time around.

Serving on a Jury is one of our responsibilities as Citizens of the Greatest Country on the Planet.
I've been sent in many times but never have sat. I also got selected to Federal Petit Jury Duty but did not make the cut. Since I am an Engineer, and know several Law Enforcement officers (including my brother in law), I don't think I'll ever sit in the box.

Minimum just by being here today I cannot serve again for a year. If you do serve on a jury it is 3 years.

They asked me if I could be impartial and I told them to bring the next guilty one in.

They asked how I felt about divorce and I told them she gets nothing period because he worked his ass off to get it.

They excused me.

I got randomly picked four years in a row and called and lodged a complaint. Never been randomly picked again.

I don't mind serving but they always pick the worst time for me. Always when I was out driving the bus.

I have never been called for jury duty.

What scares me about jurors is the attitude that most have that they don't want to be there, just want to get as quick possible. People's lives hang in the Balance and most don't care.

Having been an administrative hearing officer for 11 years, they always want me on the jury. If selected I will do my job diligently, but I generally have something going on when they call.

My motto when hearing the disciplinary write ups was they are all guilty, let them appeal it!

If an individual is arrested then they must have done something wrong therefore they are guilty.

Yes I'm scary, but comes with nearly 20 years working a max prison.

State or fed?

I've never been called for Jury duty, but I suspect I'll never serve. Having a PhD and specializing in forensic sciences is not a good background for a juror.

I used to get called in Florida and Kansas, but haven't received anything here in Iowa. I'm happy to go. Always tried to be vague so they don't know the "real" me.

I heard that Iowa has real small jury boxes and space per person is at a minimum. No wonder they don't call you. {.}
