Just broke my rear shock ear off

Heard a noise back there and took a look under the car... saw my RH shock plate broke off. I don't know why, but I suspect my lowered leafs have my shocks too far into their travel and the shock bottomed out. Anyone have any of these they want to sell?
Anyone know if someone sells a drop-ear one that puts the shock back into center at rest?

If it is due to a limited shock travel , then you had to feel it ( with your butt ) when you crossed a speed limiter ( Or how do you call them ) or so.
Easy part to find , even overhere.
Proper shocks ?

BTW agree with Rick , your car is worth a nomination for Car of the Month.
 
If it's a result of limited shock travel then I would think the area where they bolt in at the top would have bent upward as well.
 
Did you achieve the rear ride height by simply chopping off the rear half of the spring on the bottom of the spring pack?
 
I saw the TCP ones- they've got enough of my money! And the shipping drags into the next week from CA to NY. I ordered a heavy duty set from Cobra Automotive here on the East Coast. They have a killer .pdf catalog, by the way, if you go to their site.

I use Maier 165lb lowering springs and his Bilstein shocks. No lowering blocks. I did notice that, due to the ride height set by the springs, the shock is not quite centered in its travel. Installing the shock requires to compress it almost 4 inches, leaving 2-3/4 inches left of the shaft for compression travel. But in speaking with Mike Maier, he informed me that that is fine- since the shock is not straight up and down, but rather laying at an angle, a one inch compression at the tire does not equate into one inch of shock travel.

I guess a 41 year old part saw enough cycles. It does work in both compression and rebound.

I just received the plates and u-bolts- very nice pieces, much heavier units. I'm sure these won't suffer the same fate.
