In what amounted to Deleverance,NY. 55 in a 40. Ticket will get squashed if I pay the $200 enrollment fee to get into the county "Safe Drivers" program(Which I can be turned down for depending on my driving record which is clean up till now) and go through 6 hours of Driving school. Funny part is,My wife has worked in Family Court for 30 years as a clerk and couldn't get it fixed. Turns out that the judge only does traffic court on mondays and other types of crime during the week. The judge isn't a lawyer or even a retired cop and isn't know through the system like a real judge would be. Chances are he's a retired farmer or other type who ran for town justice, won and is now recognized as a sitting judge. I watched as others who lived in the county got their speeding tickets knocked down to a noise violation and given a $100 fine and told,No points, don't do it again. You talk to the county ADA and she knocks it down because if it's not a moving violation the county get to keep the fines. My wife doesn't know her as she was a hire from outside the state. I had to check the county seal on the way out to make sure it wasn't Ned Beatty tied to tree. Gotta love New York state and the underhanded ways things get done. I pass the drivers course and the county keeps the $200.

My oldest brother got a speeding ticket (5mph over?) in school zone w/in 1mi. of his house. He hadn't had a moving violation in ~25yrs. He took the traffic school option (off record/no points) and at 55+yo he was the only one in the class over 21, he had trouble fitting in the standard elementary classroom desk/chair. After paying ~$150 for fees and the course he received a letter from his ins. co. a few weeks later. They gave him a $200/yr. reduction in ins. for taking the driving class! He actually came out ahead! Crime does pay was his lesson.

I got a speeding ticket in Morrisville NY last year. It was a 45 in a 30. I took the 6 hour course to keep my record and insurance clear. I took the course online. Just did an hour a night until completed. The course was $24. Sure beats sitting in a class with young punks.

Last time I took driver's ed to remove a ticket I rented a DVD where periodically you have to call in and answer questions "push 1 for answer A", etc.

It was my being stupid that got me the ticket. Our old townhouse was behind a large church in town. I rarely went through there on week days but the day care called and said I had to come pick up the boys because they were running a fever.

I was only doing about 30 mph but I forgot the large church is also a private school and during that time of day the area is a school zone (20 mph limit)...ops!

It was no biggie. That was in 2003 and I hadn't had a ticket in years prior to that one and haven't had a ticket since....he says knocking on wood.
