Not really unexpected, but sad to hear anyway. I met Larry back in 2007 during a track day at Heartland Park. He immediately befriended Deb and in doing so, me too. Larry had been through a lot in his life. WWII veteran, an engineer that worked on many projects that made him quite proud, a husband, dad and friend to many in the Kansas City area.

Deb found Larry and his life story riveting. She listened to him at the track, talked on the phone and we both made a trip to his home in Independence, MO and spent the day with him. He was a really cool guy. Loved cars and racing. He had a new, red Vette and loved driving that car. Deb was so taken with Larry's story, that she wrote one of her own about the first meeting and ended up getting it published.

After our visit with Larry at his home, just as we were about to pull away, Larry stopped us and said something that will always stay with me. He smiled and said, "don't forget me".

Larry died last Thursday at the young age of 95. His picture will always hang on my wall and will never be forgotten.
