Just what I needed...

Just what I needed like a hole in my head was another pet. We already have two cats, two frogs, one dog and one hamster that is burried in the back yard...guess the hamster doesn't count anymore...

However, the boys have been on our case for a while that they wanted a pet rabbit.

They had some money between a few folks sending them money in Christmas cards plus they are earning $40 this week taking care of a neighbor's pool while they are out of town.

We found a rabbit named "Rex" at the SPCA this evening.

The boys used their money towards the rabbit. He's a cute little critter and has soft fur at least. We did get stuck footing part of the bill for the cage, water bottle, etc.

He's house broken and uses his liter box in the corner of his cage, LOL!

Ha Ha, enjoy the bugs bunny wascally wabbits. Cute pic btw. I brought a couple of rabbits home when my boys were young to keep with the baby chicks in the chicken pen. We quickly found out that swmbo was highly allergic to rabbit fur. She broke out in hives and started swelling. Not fun. She could not even get near them!

So far everyone is doing well with the rabbit (aka Rex) around.

The reason he was at the shelter was his first owner had allergy issues where rabbits were concerned and had to give him up.

He seems to be taking up with us well. When we're home we leave his cage door open and he goes in and out as he pleases. He seems to enjoy sitting on the bricks by the fire place or on the area rug in the den. He doesn't seem to care for the wood floor much, when he tries to hop around his feet slip.

One interesting thing is you cannot leave paper on the floor. The boys left the instructions for a rip stick they got for Christmas on the floor and Rex ate the corner of the instruction manual, LOL!

The cat and dog don't seem to mind that he is around but a few times the cat has slipped up behind him to sniff him and try to figure out what he is...it's hysterical because it spooks the bunny and the takes off at light speed across the room, then his feet slip out from under him and it's like watching a bunny on ice.
