Walking distance between Meridian Inn and Angel Stadium is 2.2 miles, still a bit of a walk. My searching has found that a hotel of roughly the same rating as the Courtyard in that area is more expensive, around $150. I had also thought about us remaining at the Courtyard as it's not really a long drive. We know what to expect at the nearby restaurants, although it MIGHT be nice to change it up. I'm good either way.Meridian Inn appears to be about 3 miles from Angel's Stadium, so walking between the two during the show day is probably not likely. Other than general proximity to the show on Sunday, what other advantages does staying at the Meridian Inn for the weekend provide?
As far as quality, the Buena Park Courtyard where we have stayed each of the last 10 or so years should be the minimum standard in terms of condition, service, and amenities (AAA rated 3 diamond for what ever that is worth). Yelp reviews on the Meridian Inn do not give me a "Warm Fuzzy" feeling. As a baseline, the Courtyard on Beach Blvd is currently showing a AAA rate of $117 per night for Friday and Saturday with free cancellation up to 2 days before arrival. At 9.2 miles from the new show venue, unless the Meridian Inn has other advantages I am not aware of, I am tempted to stay in Buena Park and drive in on Sunday morning.
Disneyland is just down the street from the stadium. Certainly closer than Buena Park. Have you all looked into any of those? There are tons of hotels around Disney. They may not be walking distance but there are plenty of eateries and places to hang out within waling distance of the hotels. Downtown Disney and The Garden Walk to name two. Just my 2 cents.
Old people are resistant to change...
Not in the least....but considering you park you car in your garage during this event and sleep in your own bed, I am not sure you fully comprehend all of the issues. Sometimes its much easier to go with what you know and works as opposed to making the jump. We know the Courtyard is clean and safe. We know where we can park our cars as well as knowing they are safe. I know there is room for my truck and trailer.
I am all about trying something new, but we need to vet it out before we just jump in with both feet. You do not become old and wise by solely acting young and dumb!
I do appreciate the offer for trailer parking, and will take you up on it if we decided to change hotels. I am not fond of the reviews of the two posted so far. I am all about trying somewhere new to eat as well!
