late 302 roller block help required

i have a 87 302 roller block and unassembled came with je srp pistons and edelbrock heads for late pedestal style 302s.
I dont have rockers/pushrods can anyone recommend on what i would need for pedestal style heads as they only have the springs/valves fitted also can i use a early timing cover/sump fuel pump as im fitting motor into a 68 stang. Im not running a roller cam just a hyd lifter comp cams 262xe
Whats the best way to seal the dipstick hole in block?
Also there are 2 different applications for timing chain sets one for early sbf and one for late sbf,am i right in saying if i use the early one i can use the fuel pump eccentric?

i plugged the dipstick hole with a really short bolt and some sealer. i can't remember if it was a 1/2 or 3/8 bolt, but it was really short and once it was coated, it snugged up in there and i haven't had a problem since.
i had the same problem, but others options were to use a wooden dowel, as the oil would make the wood expand. i chose the bolt because i liked the bolt head sealing up top and not allowing anything to slip in.

good luck on your other stuff.

I tried to use the one piece eccentric on my 5.0 but it bound on the vintage timing cover. I tried the 2 piece eccentric and it fit fine.

I can't see any reason why you couldn't grind a one piece eccentric down to fit, if it hit the timing cover.

I used the Crane Energizer Roller Rockers on AFR Pedestal Mount heads. These are the same rockers that Ford Racing sells with their label on them. The Ford logo is cast into the rocker body.

I went with the 1.7 ratio as opposed to 1.6. The E303 cam's gross lift increased from .498 to .527 with thw 1.7 rockers.

I don't recall what I used for pushrods, I think they were stock length for the roller block, but you are probably going need measure what you need with an adjustable push rod. If you end up having to adjust the roller rockers, they also sell a shim kit.

On the dipstick plug, I thought someone mentioned a few weeks ago that you can get individual 3/8" freeze plugs from any of the auto parts store. Tap it in and your done...

That's what happened to me on my 1 piece as well, but I ended up milling some off the face of it.

Why aren't you using a roller cam? That's one of the major advantages to a roller block. A good roller cam will cost more, but you'll get more power and more driveability out of it. A set of lifters shouldn't be hard to find used.

the motor came with a new comp cams/lifter kit so will have to use this in the meantime until i get more funds to put into car
