Layover at Dulles Q

Later this year, SWMBO and I are travelling and we have a 5 hour layover in Dulles. I was thinking of visiting the air and space museum out near the airport during the layover. Has anyone tried this before? (how easy do ya think it will be to get out of and back into the airport!)....

I don't know if 5 hours will be enough, so much to see. But it is doable.
