I thought I'd post about my recent brake line replacement. A few weeks ago, I had that sinking feeling with my brake pedal. I got home and assessed the situation and found brake fluid all over the control arm area on the passenger side. Turns out the hard line to the hose had been rubbing on the upper control arm and finally rubbed through. Here's the picture:
This picture was taken after I had pulled the line away from the control arm a little bit. The bends weren't very complex, so I got a length of brake line at a local auto parts store and bent it myself rather than going with the prebent line. And I made sure to allow some clearance between the line and the control arm.
