LED Turn Signals and Bulbs

I am running all LED turn signals and bulbs including the dash and the parking lights up front.

My emergency flashers don't work but my regular flashers work fine with the Mustang Project's flasher. We swapped the MP flasher to the emergency flashers and it worked fine.

I have a call into Mustang Project to see what they suggest.

Did anyone else need to buy two flasher modules from them?

I left my regular flashers at Craig's I am wondering if running regular bulbs in the turn signals on the hood might allow a regular flasher to work. But haven't been able to test this theory.

Any thought's or advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I running LED lights everywhere and the MP Sequential unit flasher. My emergency lights flash fine. Just checked them due to upcoming inspection.

I run all LEDs except for my headlights, and I also have turn signal lights in my hood scoop...

The typical flasher units are operated by current passing through them heating up a bi-metal strip which bends and breaks the circuit, until it cools down and makes contact again. The key here is that the current draw is what controls the flashing frequency... low current = slow flashing, high current = fast flashing. Your LEDs draw very little current...

My solution was to use (gasp) GM truck style flashers (well, they are hidden under the dash) which are essentially electromagnets that control the contacts of the circuit. These are not sensitive to current draw and were designed this way to accommodate towing applications - since the additional lights on a trailer affect current draw.

NPD sells these as special flasher units for LED applications, but you can probably source them from a local auto store...

Good luck,

So you have a bad emergency flasher?

Nope used three including brand new.

Will try with regular bulbs in hood and see if that works or get the GM type.

Thanks!

You could just unplug the hood flashers to test, no?

Left the flasher at Craig's so couldn't test.

Ended up just buying a flasher module from Mustang Project since I already know that works!

Thanks guys!

Installed flasher from Mustang project and glad I went that route. Looks awesome when both sequentials are flashing outward.

Kind of like a big go around sign.

Looks great.

As indicated on the Mustang Project website for their products... with certain of their LED lights (including the brightest intensity ones) you need to run electronic flasher modules for both (each of) the turn signal and the emergency flasher circuits. It is indicated in the description of the individual products. I spent a bit of time sorting this out when ordering. Love their products though.
