Let's play guess that car

It's a standard 1967 AMC Rebel. The SST came with a molding insert that looked like a scoop, just ahead of the rear wheels. The "Machine" wasn't introduced until '70. The tip off for being a '67 is the door handles. Starting in '68 they were flush mounted.

Do I win?!!! :yah :sarc

My first guess was an AMC product. But I do not know too many of them, and I knew it was not a Gremlin so I guessed AMX and googled a picture. Nope I was wrong. I was however correct on the year as my first guess was 1967. Why 1967? It has no side marker lights or reflectors. I think those became standard in 1968.

LOL Ain't it strange how AMC gets so little respect, but in reality they have some decently cool cars (e.g. AMX, Javelin, Rebel)! Of course, I guess with models like the Pacer and Gremlin the disrespect is a little deserved too!

Whats the deal with these old AMC's? Were the production numbers really low? I rarely see any and when I do, I usually think its a pretty cool car! How are they value wise? Its gotta be tough to restore one with lack of parts!

Oh, and don't knock the Gremlin!

Here's another AMC/Rambler you don't see very often. The Marlin.Kinda looks a bit like a 66 Charger. Even back in the day these cars were scarce. I worked with a guy back home that had an AMX with the rear seat delete in it. He swapped out the AMC block for a Mopar. Most of the time it was the Gremlin/Hornet that you saw the most of.

Your friends AMX must have been a 71 or later. The 68 - 70 AMX's didn't have a rear seat.

The man who taught me how to autox had a 69 AMX (forest green with white stripes and a tan interior, 390 and a 4 speed) and it was very cool.

Agree, the Marlin is actually a pretty cool car. No performance to speak of, but tons in the looks department! The interior is pretty cool!! :thu IIRC the front seats fully recline, there's a center console but with armrests that fold up/down for the front and rear seats.

Over 30 years ago. When he first started working with us,he said he had a project going on and it was nearing the end.He pulled into the lot with it one morning and lit up the back tires. Wow.
All I know was that thing with the mopar power was fast.
