Lincoln MK VIII 4.6 al engine on the way for my '67 fb

I've been struggling on powertrain choice (351w or stroked variant vs Mod.)
I realize displacement is great, but with gas prices on the rise; I figured I can do some minor mods to the motor and get some decent HP and reasonable MPG from a mod motor.
Plus it seems like a fun challenge.

This is the same/similar as the '96 Cobra, Teksid Aluminum block. I think it may shave close to 70lbs??

I have a R&C MII crossmember with no engine mounts (well that's what I had till my body shop stole mine and made a home built version and welded it in place)
What trans is best for that motor and for a '67 fb (I don't mind cutting here and there to make a t56 fit if its best)?

My present dilema; Should I remove the home made crossmember and get the removable cross member from Rod and Custom or try out the TCI (total cost Involved)?
Neither claim to be true MII, both are MII type spindles. But they claim different/improved geometry. I hear the TCi drives better, but I can't figure what the differences actually are.
Part of my dilema is that I can get just the crossmember from RCmotorsports (about $400) which is easier on the wallet now. But TCI only sells the full monty; so when I add in the Wilwood rotors and caliper, it gets the price up to around $3200.... Timing is not good for that expense now as I am undergoing lots of bodywork.
I was thinking of getting cobra intake, assuming it will fit under an Eleanor or gt500 hood.
Any words of wisdom from the experts?
Thanks again

If you're going mod motor and want power you have to think twin-screw supercharger. I put an inter-cooled Kenne Bell set-up on my stock 4.6 in my Roush and LOVED it. Mild mannered around town and great MPG. Oh, and it could take a stock Terminator all day long. Even some of the "pulley" cars had their hands full. The torque is a blast on the street. Lot's of guys go the centrifugal route (cheaper) but on the street it's not anywhere near as fun or dominant. You can safely net 400+ WHEEL HP on a stock internals mod motor with pump gas. It fit under the stock hood so height wouldn't be much more than something like the Cobra intake I'm guessing.

The stock Tremec 3650 that is usually behind the 4.6 is a good trans up until you beat on it. It's 2nd to 3rd synchros will fail. It doesn't like to be shifted hard. Upgrade is probably necessary long term. Then again, they are readily available and not to tough to swap out.

4.6 4V motor = challenges when looking at the stock brake master cylinder location. It's do-able, but your options are limited as that back corner of the head is "real close" to the master cylinder placement.

Read a ton of info before buying the motor as it will present challenges. Computer, wiring, radiator, blah, blah, blah.

Rod and Custom offers a removable crossmember? It must be a new product offering as mine is solidly welded in between the framerails. It's difficult to imagine a removable xmember retaining the same amount of structural integrity.

Well crap, I hated to do it; but I flaked on the seller.
As I probed deeper, it was OBDI. The rear throttle body is a hindrance, etc etc

Well, back to square one.
Yes, William at R&C makes a removable crossmember. He was even going to bring it to my car next weekend. He knows me new body guy and has been to his shop before.

So,
Anyone have a 351w for sale?
What else should I look around for?

A friend has a 60's erc 390, but isn't quite ready to let go of it.
I found several 351ws around, one is coming to the house tomorrow for inspection
