I had to yank my trans of the long weekend, it started to feel like the throwout bearing was starting to go. And I guess I got to it before it blew up...it's feeling a little crunchy. And now I'm thinking of while I've got the trans out, I might as well replace the clutch.
Here's what I've got now: long style pressure plate and a McLeod 10.5" clutch disc. Not too happy with the wear on the three fingers from the throwout bearing. I'm thinking of swapping over to a diaphragm pressure plate, I've heard they're smoother. But to do that I'd need a new flywheel, since this is a Ford flywheel and only has the long style bolt pattern. I asked about drilling mine out for the diaphragm, and was told that was a bad idea. I'm not sure if I've got a 157 or 164 tooth flywheel...the wife is gonna get that info for me since she gets home alot earlier than I.
Anyone have any recommendation on whether I should stay with the long style or swap out to the diaphragm? I'm thinking of either sticking with McLeod or Centerforce.
thanks
