Looking for a new trans

Now that I'm driving my fastback daily, I think that it's time to swap out trans. I'm currently running an original TKO, but I'm thinking of swapping it out for either a AOD or 4R70W. I know that the AOD is a straight ahead swap, with just getting the TV cable adjusted properly is important. But I'm also thinking of the 4R70W. Is anyone running one of these? And what controller are ya using?

Any opinions?

This is the swap I'm doing this winter (or as soon as the temps cool down). I'm swapping put the FMX for a 2004 V6 4r70w out of a Mustang.

Larry,

Are you having to replace the output shaft? Don't the newer trans use an OSS instead of a VSS for the speed sensor? What are you using for the cross member?

No, I'm not changing the shaft, the 2004 uses a VSS. I already have a electric speedo in my car and the Baumann/US Shift controller will take of that. I ordered a crossmember from a person ( Joe Persad) off one of the Mustang forums, it's made for the 4r70w swap.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I need to do some reading (ok...a lot of reading). I wonder since I'm running an EEC-IV computer, if there's one that will do the trans stuff. More reading to do!!

I'm just looking for a change of pace. Since I'm driving her pretty much every day to work, I just wanna slap her in gear and drive, and not worry about having to row through gears while trying to enjoy my coffee.
