looking to add trac loc..

going to swap out the 3:00 open rear to a 3:50 trac loc in my 9"rear, I'm not familiar with setting up ring & pinions so I could look for a complete 3rd member or buy the parts and find someone locally to set it up, looking for reputable vendors...

Too bad your are not in the Dallas area, I have an rebuilt 8" trac-loc with 350 grears. I looking to do 300 or 320 gears for my ride.

I used a Detroit TruTrac differential and Motive gears. There is a local guy who set mine up. He said it is sometimes difficult to get a good contact pattern with gears made overseas. He said the Motive gears were good and he was able to get an excellent contact pattern with them.

I'm pleased with my setup and would recommend it. The TruTrac works great, is smooth, and you can't hear it engage.

+1 on quality gear sets. Cheapos will whine or burn out quicker due to the poor contact pattern.

If you are interested I know a guy who can put you together for you. He has done my last 2 chunks. He is in London.

Shipping within Ontario is definitely cheaper than coming in from the states.

I'll take you up on that, my daughter goes to UWO so trips to London are often :)

London in Canada ??? Dammed !!

You would be suprised. My MIL is from London Ontario Canada. Heck, I live not that far from Belgium, Norway and Sweden - South Carolina USA, that is!

Well, I can't remember what we did with mine, but I just kept the 8" and put in a new chunk. I am running a 289 after all.

It is the single best upgrade I ever did to my car! I plan on doing the same thing to the 67.

We build rear ends everyday, It would be cheaper if you furnished the third member. Take a look at our rear ends on our facebook page. We even make the complete brake line setup. Rich.
