Lower control arms

I plan on replacing my lower control arms this week, seems like it a pretty straight forward process. Is there anything I should be aware of? Thanks in advance.

There are a few things.....

1. The strut rods connect to the LCA with two bolts/nuts. Remove the nuts from the underside and leave the bolts in the strut rod.

2. Separating the lower ball joint from the spindle may take some effort. If you're throwing away the the old LCA/lower ball joint, using a pickle fork to separate the LCA from the spindle is probably your best bet for quicker success.

3. If your car is a '67 and up (sorry, I forget the year of your car), you can scribe the camber eccentric before removal to hopefully be somewhat close on your front end alignment. Either way though, the car should have the alignment checked when you're all done.

Have fun!

Thanks Dave, the car is a 65. I'm replacing, so I'm not worried about the old arms. This is hopefully the final step (prior to aligning,) in fixing my rising front end problem.

Are you or have you replaced the original spring perches with roller units?

Dammit Mark.... wait for the symptoms before providing the cure.

I was thinking the exact same thing, but wanted to find out when he's seeing the rise. Stiff perches is the likely culprit.

That was my thought, sorry Master Yoda :doh

Already has roller perches according to THIS POST.

On your front end rising problem:

What spindles are you running with the Global West UCA's???
What are your alignment specs?
Did you set ride height according to the GW instructions?

Been running the global west arms for years, no problems. In a prior post I went into more details on what was happening. I believe the problem with the front rising on acceleration is due to the alignment. (I put new roller perches in recently.) When I went to have it aligned, one of the LCA's was bad, so I'm replacing them. I really believe that the LCA's and alignment will solve the problems I had, if not you'll hear from me!

Here we go again, installed the LCA's and the problem with the front end rising on acceleration is worse. The front end now sits about 3 inches over the tires at rest. The shop could not align due to this. Now I'm being led to believe it is the coil springs (I've replaced everything else,) and I'm trying to figure where to go with this info. I'm definately going to remove the one inch coil insulator which I obviously don't need anymore. The shop says they can cut the coils to get the ride height I want, but I'm not sure what that will do to the spring rate.

So, I guess what I would like to know is if anyone is running my setup (global west upper LCA's, ORP roller perches and Bilstein shocks,) and what coil springs they recommend. Any input is appreciated.

The front does settle down on braking or driving in reverse. Since I last posted, the shop called and said the front end had settled some. They were going to align and then get back with me. Hopefully the alignment will do the trick. Thanks for the feedback.

I gave the shop the following specs which I got from my good friends at Stangfix.

1/8 toe in
+2* caster (or more)
-5* camber
