Marking harmonic balancer?

I've got a new Summit harmonic balancer to go on my 333 that has more than one set of timing marks. I know which ones to use but it is all shiney steel like this:

How do I paint just the numbers/hash marks in the grooves and wipe away the extra? I'm thinking black or white paint but don't know how to get it just in the grooves and keep it there when I wipe off the excess with thinner or ? So what's the trick?
Thanks, Jon

I just wiped off the excess while the paint was still wet and let it dry. Then i went over it with a rag dampened with thinner to clean it up. I had to repeat the process a couple of times.

Just prep, spray the area (or use a small artists brush for less overspray and excess), let dry, then buff back with a scotch brite.

Or paint black, let dry, then do the same with white... not the best pic, but FYI

Thanks for all the great replies guys. I think I'm going to mock it up with the pulleys and see how it looks.

I think I like Mert's the best since it hides it in black with the pulleys, as mines going to 'look' stockish. Never thought of painting the whole thing. I guess once the black dries/cures I'll be able to wipe off the excess white with thinner too. I'll give the artist brush a try and see how steady my hand it, I was never good at the game 'Operation'...
