Master Cylinder

Was the Master Cylinder for a 74 Maverick the same for Manual Disc and drum front brakes?

I usually go to a parts sellers website or a couple to research this stuff, I start with rockauto.com as they have a selection of suppliers (raybestos, bendix, centric, etc.) for each car so you get measurements and pics to compare.

On the '74 Maverick V8 it looks like they all used a 15/16" bore whether disc/ drum or pwr/manual. The difference looks to be the pedal rod that comes with the MC for manual. All the MC's have the large rear small front drum and disc it appears.

Then as a double check I go to a couple manuf. websites directly - Raybestos, bendix, etc. to verify the listing and description is correct before I order or go to the local parts store to pick up.

They are 'supposed' to be different, drum master cyls are supposed to have a 7lb residual valve in them to keep the shoes cose to the drums where discs use a 2lb valve. Looks like the remanufacturers might not always install the valves though.
