Mating engine & trans.

Ok, todays the day, it's nice and I can work outside. Want to mate the engine/trans and want to make sure I'm not missing anything or installing in the wrong order, etc. After my fiasco of installing the timing cover seal backwards and having to pull, scrape and reinstall new seal and gasket I want to ask before doing.

Here's how it sits now, logically it should go in this orientation (flywheel dish towards torque conv.) and in this order right?

1. Mount block plate to engine;
2. Mount flywheel to crank;
3. Mate trans to engine;
4. Mount flywheel to torque converter by rotating crank to access nuts

I will use thread sealer on crank/flywheel bolts
The trans shop forgot to put any fluid in the torque conv. and it's properly seated so I will add through the drain hole which is rotated to the top now, 1qt. MerconV as it's an AOD.

Anything I'm missing/forgetting? I just plan to mate them and install in engine bay, next will come all the add ons, bending trans lines, fabbing shift linkage, measureing for driveshaft, etc.
Thanks, Jon

You have the right order for install.
I use 2 pieces of allthread about 4 in long in the top two holes of the block for help in aligning the trans
so it goes in straight. when your ready to install, I put the convertor bolts at 12,3,6 and 9 and turn the crank
to match the stud holes at that point.
When you get the trans close enough to be on the block dowels, it may take some wiggling to finish the mating.
It should slide togeather till the bell touches the blockplate without binding, if there is some binding.... Stop and find out why.
Do not force them togeather or damage may happen.
