ok so Ive been getting ready for the road again and have a little issue with my shifter.. the trans is a C4.. the issue is when i go to start it it doesn't want to do anything.. only when i mess with the shifter it then will crank.. do i need a new neutral safety switch or is it that its just not tight up against the shifter line? i have another NOS switch but would rather get input on whether i should go through the trouble of switching it if its still good? do they typically wear out? and how much of a PITA is it to change these, it doesn't look like fun from the looks of things

Are you sure your shifter is in proper adjustment. Many times when one has the problems you stated, one finds the shifter is a bit out of adjustment for being properly engaged in gear plus in the shifter gate/notch. Check that and if good, I believe there is some adjustment in the mounting of the switch....otherwise, install the new one.

alright yeah ill try that, the shifter indicater box isnt install around it right now, could that also have something to do with it, not being tight in gear?

Another thing to check is the bushings at the pivot point of the shifter.

The shifter parts on the inside of the car will not secure it any. Mine shifts the same with or without the inside covers in place.

I Changed those plastic bushings in the shifter when I got the car last year so I don't think that would be it.. Could it be possible that it's just not going all the way into park?

It's wierd I started it the last 2 days a couple times to move it and it's fine.. O well til it doesn't do anything I'll change it out
