I think I am about burnt out on medical issues that my wife has had to endure.....I can only imagine how she feels.
In the middle of May she had trouble breathing one morning. Got her oxygen generator running which helped but she wanted to see a doctor. No problem.....get the portable O2 and head for the hospital...except the portable bottles did not help her enough. So...we call 911 and get help....it is a slow roll (no lights) to the hospital. Get thru the ER and they are admitting her for possible bronchitis...plus we know she has COPD and a hiatal hernia. All kinds of tests and they finally decide the hernia is bad and needs fixed....but first the wheezing, coughing, and breathing issues need improved upon.
Well....13 days later she is released (1 June). Been thru many drugs, breathing treatments every couple of hours, and xrays and such of everything. They say the hernia is larger than they expected...So she now has a special diet until the surgery. Set a date for three weeks for the surgery. More tests and doctor visits and all looks like a go.
Went to the hospital on the 25th at 5am for 7:30 surgery. Doc is 30 min. late....and is the best in this field around here. Surgery is to be 45 mins..... An hour and a half later I am raising the roof on why I have not been better informed. Doc comes out after 2 hours and says all went great. Her hernia was worse than they had ever seen. Her entire stomach and part of the colon had moved above the diaphragm thru an enlarged opening....this could have been extremely serious. Now, 2 hours in recovery.
All was put back in place and properly secured....and done laparoscopicly but she comes out with a lot of pain. This is due to the air they inflate the body with so they decide she needs to spend the night..... Finally, around noon today she is released but still has much pain. Now to keep her moving around here and hope all heals well. Three weeks of a liquid diet for her....and after another week, she goes in to have all the female internals removed.
With all the past.....both knees replaced in '07, COPD, fibromyalgia, arthritis, asthma, back pain stimulator installed in '08, high blood pressure, thyroid, sleep apnea (I am forgetting something I know) and now this......she is one tough wife.....plus still puts up with me....
I tell everyone I cannot afford to trade her in so I am rebuilding her.....kinda like a good classic car.....you really keep the good one.
Thanks for listening.....
