Meet Maggie

Teebone

Active Member
We adopted Maggie 6 days ago from a local
rescue group Underdog Ranch.

She is approx 5 months old and a very
loveable, playful, happy pup.

Her Mom is an Austrialian Cattledog...her dad is suspected
to be a Black Lab. She was the last of a litter of 5 and
no one wanted her....mostly because she was a black dog

Maggie has found a home with us and we are happy
to have her as our new family member

5 months old?! WOW! She's gonna be a handful Vin! BTW, we adopted a black lab/dalmatian mix from the SPCA a number of years ago. She had some physical traits of a dalmatian, but she was black like a lab...just like yours. Her name? Maggie! Unfortunately she's no longer with us, but I hope your Maggie provides you as much joy as ours did.

Congrats you two.
Gypsy would be proud you are helping another pup get the love they deserve.

She was dumped on the side of the road with her
Mom and her 4 siblings. Her Mom was so terrified
that she didn't nurse any of her pups. The rescue
folks had to bottle feed them all.

We saw her at a pet adoption event and had to
go thru an approval process. We were originally
denied...and needless to say....Toni blew a CORK !!!!

Toni wrote them back and told them in no uncertain
terms they shouldn't make such a quick hasty decision
without seeing what we had to offer first. Well...that
certainly changed things very quickly.

She's a good dog...goes right into her crate at
about 10 pm and sleeps soundly until about 6am
so that is a plus.

She follows Toni around like a shadow and is
very affectionate. She hasn't cried at all and
she is just finding her bark...limitedly which is good.

She has, so far, only chewed the corners of a
couple of the scatter rugs and mostly plays
with her own toys. Only two wet misses in
the house so she's on her way to going
completely outside

She has the run of the house during the day and
has not chewed or destroyed anything else.

She is losing her baby teeth and of course Toni
has saved one. Guess Toni still believes in the
tooth fairy

She responds to her name Maggie in just 6 days
(the rescue had named her Raven...but..we changed that)

She has a beautiful white stripe down her chest with
white spotting on her back paws. I'll try to get a photo
of that when she stops squirming in front of the camera

Here's a photo of me and her watching the ballgame
and a photo of her Mom.

We're looking into getting the electric fence so she
can run in the backyard. They will come next Thursday
to give us an estimate. Toni, of course, brought the electric fence
mechanics with us from Connecticut so it's just the
wiring that needs to be installed.

We'll probably go and get some training since it's been
16 years since we've had a puppy again. Miss Gypsy was
about the same age when we adopted her from the
Westport Humane Society. We need to brush up our skills

After 2 surgeries, losing Miss Gypsy, losing my Mom all in
a matter of 2 months...Yes, we believe / hope that Miss Gypsy approves
since Maggie has brought a wonderful bright light back into our lives

Toni blew a CORK !!!!

No I just can't imagine this would happen! :whis

This is a great pup! We recently rescued Murphy our Chocolate Labradoodle to join our pack with Maxi our sheppard - Corky mix and Toby the kids Chocolate Labradoodle. Murphy will be 5 in September so we don't have the puppy issues, but he was restricted to the back yard and has a lot to learn.

We did go through puppyhood with Toby. Both Toby and Murphy attended training at Petsmart, both respond to the leave it command and many others.

My point without hijacking this thread is that puppyhood is not that bad when there are loving human parents around! You both will be those loving human parents and have found an awesome puppy to share life with!!!!!

She will likely like the water, so trips to the lake and beach would be in order. Oh, one last thing...what helped us get through the high energy of Toby's puppyhood was lots of play, I mean lots! We ran him behind the 4 wheeler and just got him (sorry for the pun) Dog tired!

Toby is short for Toblerone.

Good job!

Miss seeing you guys!

Mel and Amber

Oh Maggie, I couldn't have tried any more
You led me away to home
Just to save you from being alone
You stole my heart and that's what really hurts
