So I'm reading about the GM Chevy Cruze in the July issue of Motor Trend. The car is very impressive for its quality its quiet tuning measures...and I quote " acoustic-laminated windshiled, expanding foam in body cavities, a mastic-sandwich firewall, five-layer headliner, triple door sealing, etc."

Expanding foam? :nick Really? :craz

I'm guessing its a non-absorbent type that seals itself.

Hey, they make it - boats use it all the time to provide bouyancy. Obviously, absorbing water is BAD in that app.

I've heard of guys like Nick using :nick for boats, though. Much worse outcome there :scar

Edit: OK, so I can't spell

Most of the auto manufacturers have been using it for a while now. It's pretty slick stuff, 2-part urethane based closed cell, and not :nick

3M sells it as an aftermarket item too; I had some self-important prick on VMF get all over me for thinking he was using :nick when he was really using the 3M stuff in his mustang. Haven't seen too many other people use it on vintage cars though...it is a very neat idea.
