More Brake (hose) questions

Brakes:Front Disc (Kelsey Hayes)/rear drums 10x1.75
Build date: 19Jan67

Problem: The current front brake hoses are rubber. At rest (car on ground, straight) they look stretched...or at least at their limit. At full turn chock it looks scary.
Hose measures Approx 14"..connection to connection.
Direct measurement (no curve for attachments points) is 12.75" from hardline bracket to face of caliper.

I tried NPD who only offer a Russell version that's 14"

Want I want: Steel braided (I know not really needed) hoses. I'm looking for at least 16-18" length to add some slack in the line for full deflection of wheel.

Questions:
Anyone know of a source for what I want?

If not...whatare the descriptions (size, threads, male/female) of the ends needed?
I'm guessing that the hardline end is female with the caliper end being male.
This so I can get hoses made.

Thanks :nice

I'm not 100% positive, but shouldn't your front brake hard lines be routed a little bit (6") further forward? You can see the 2 holes in the frame rail where the bracket usually mounts and the hard line terminates. Was your brake system (hard lines) re-done some time in the past?

i think those two holes are for the non-disk brake lines. I was thinking his calipers were on the wrong sides.

Mine look like this:

Not sure Dave. PO may have changed things. I call this car Frankenstien because I never know what kind of odd mechanicals I come across.

You could give the guys at Cobra Auto a call and ask, they probably have come across that before.

I use a 16" braided hoses in other kits I build. I'm trying to find the correct adapter for your calipers. If I can find it I'll let you know...

Are the existing brake hoses worn thus requiring replacement? Or are they just too short for comfort?

If they're just too short and you'd otherwise not replace them, why not just extend the hard line forward 6"?

$5 worth of brake line and a couple 3/16ths union adapters would solve this "brake lines are too short" issue.

Or you could spend $50 on some extended SS braided hoses....

I question if being an early 67 built car, that possibly Ford had the hard line end where we see it in the pics. Similar spot for the 65 and 66.

Found all the parts you need (I think). Email me if you want them - shaun@streetortrack.com. If they work, you can pay me. :danc
