More parts added to the collection.....driveshaft!

I'm towards the end of my parts gathering for the conversion and I finally found a driveshaft. I had been looking EVERYWHERE for a used OEM or aftermarket aluminum on that was a perfect fit since the local shop wanted $200 to shorten and balance one that didn't fit. I wasn't really wanting to drop close to $300 on a new one, so I kept looking. The stock Cobra T56 driveshaft was 3" too short and the Fox Body FMS aluminum one was an inch too short. Well I stumbled across an ebay auction for one that came out of a Nascar vehicle, but its DOM steel......and it's friggin 4" diameter. It's all about girth baby!! :lol I'm crossing my fingers that there will not be any exhaust clearance issues. Nothing a BFH with a little love tap couldn't fix.

It is a Dynotech 4" with 0.065" wall thickness. These things are very expensive new. I'm not sure what the stock driveshaft wall thickness is, but I have a feeling that this is much thinner so it'll likely be lighter weight. I really wanted an aluminum one but this will suffice. Even if it does add a bit of rotational mass, I'm running an aluminum flywheel so it may help tame that thing down. The price was the best thing with this driveshaft, $38 shipped! :EB

Here is the auction with pictures: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120532999545&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

The T56 slip yoke has 1350 u-joints but the rear will likely need conversion u-joints. I think the 70 cars without 31spl axles had 1330 u-joints. The rear will get rebuilt anyways, so if push comes to shove I'll just pick up a 1350 rear yoke.

More to come in the near future.....hydraulic clutch actuation :$$$ I'll either be making my own adjustable motor mounts or buying the RM ones. After that it's making the trans crossmember and figuring out how to deal with the electronic speedometer output, whether it being aftermarket gauges or a converter box.

Good call! Thats a pretty sweet deal you got. Weird that on their auctions, they have a bunch @ 49.99 and a couple @ 14.99.

The ones at $50 have the slip yoke and u-joints. I planned on getting new u-joints regardless and the slip yoke was the wrong spline.
