Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Casting number on the block is C8AE 6059 - B 1A

Thanks,

Johnny

That's the casting # off a timing cover. You need the one off the bottom of the block, which has "6015" instead of "6059" in the middle...

There will also be a date stamp above the casting number on the right rear of the block, give us both and we can figure out when it was made:

Thanks Guys,
I'll get the codes in the morning.

After some Googling i have read that this is not a sure way to tell if my motor is a 390 or a 428. It was sold to me as a 428 but i have my suspicions.

johnny only way to be sure is to measure the bores

I cannot seem to find a "standard" type casting number on the block anywhere.

I looked under where the oil filter goes and this is stamped. Makes no sense to me.

Is the casting and date code stamped in a hidden spot on these FE blocks?

I would think about pulling the oil pan and looking at the stamping on the crank. IIRC FE cranks can be easily identified by the 1U, 2U, etc. stamp on the crank throws.
