Went to see Alice (in 2D) Saturday afternoon with the gf. I liked it, but it's not for everyone. Definitely not for the little ones (under 13?).
I love most things Tim Burton and this one didn't let me down. If you've read the books, the new movie has much more in common with the books than the original cartoon. I really like the cartoon, but the books (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass) were completely different (better, IMO). The new movie has a darker tone than the original, and although not quite as dark as the books, it's still quite different than what I suspect most people are expecting. It pulls off a good medium, being serious without losing all of the whimsical feeling of Wonderland.
The acting is superb on all accounts. The only real oddball is the White Queen, which you'll understand when you see the movie. I thought she was hilarious, but my gf was creeped out, hehe.
Anyway, go see it. And then let me know how it is in 3D
