I'm sure you guys have seen Mustang #1 before, but incase anyone hasn't, here are some pics from the Ford Museum. The body panel alignment and fit was surprisingly bad...

No, it has already undergone a partial refurbishment. Whoever put together the panels probably didn't spend a whole lot of time on it.
 
I've found that a lot of original cars I have seen, the body fit was actually pretty good. Our hobby has been infiltrated for a long time with many ill-fitting repro parts and owners that have no clue what workmanship is. It's almost become the defacto "standard" to say the cars didn't fit well.
