Mustang playing cards from the past

Yesterday I obtained a deck of cards from a fellow NorCal StangFixer, that was made about 10 years ago. Here's a select group for your enjoyment. Maybe this will re-spark a previous post.

I still hold fast to my opinion that they would look better with transparent backgrounds and focus just on the car.

After looking at these, I think the cars would look good if the background was mostly removed......but leave a roughly outlined patch of the ground under them.........but, I have no say in things.....

I would agree with the background distracting from the Mustangs.

Craig, if you would be so kind as to scan one for me and email it to me. I would like to try and bring the background to 25% 50% and 75% transparency and see what they would look like at each different level as I believe that removing the background completely wouldn't look all that great either(but, you never really know).

wow 10 years ago :wtf
I'm the 9 of diamonds, I still have a few decks, a nice touch was receiving a stack of (I think 30) 9 of diamonds, kinda like business cards.

I kinda like Pete's idea, or have the background fade to white toward the edges.

Abe, can you do some examples of these ideas?

Frank

I will be getting back on to the project today! I will be posting an updated list of participants. We still need like 15 cars.

I like the idea of the background fading.

I have been sent some samples of the paper they will be printed on. There are some that feel cheap and some that feel great.

When I play poker I like the bicycle cards. Do you guys want paper and finish like those or do you look for something else?

Thanks,

Mel

I sure can Frank. Just need a file to play with.

Mel, I would be more than happy to donate my time to the editing of the images for this project, if you would like.

Very very quick example using a extra small file, didn't take more than 30 seconds for this so pardon the very chopy work on the after edited photo.

The amount of opacity can be modified and so can the background color used behind the background of the Mustang.

What about doing black and white for the background and just colorizing the car to make it stand out more? :shrug

A little opacity on the background looks nice. But I think they pop better with the B&W background. I might be able to lend a hand with the photochopping if you need it Abe.

Mel is the boss, but I think that if we can organize a small group of folks working on the pics, we can help Mel crank this out pretty quickly.

You can also make and share an "action" for photoshop that will help with keeping the continuity with different people editing.

All the lasso (selections) work will have to be done by hand though.

After looking at the sample cards and the VMF cards, I really like the car with no background. The only thing with this is the car needs to be photographed from one of the corners.

Oh, one of the sample decks they sent has a bunch of Corvettes on them and this is how they did it and it looks slick.

I need to get the official thread going again so we can debate the issue. I will make the cards what the majority of the forum wants.

Once I get all the slots filled. As it stands right now I need 10 more suckers candidates.
