My new engine combo

This is where I'm at currently. I have a t5, and 8.8 w/ 3.73 gears.

94 351w stock short block
T/W 170 heads currently at 61cc
TFS Stage 2 cam
1.6 RR
Vic Jr (Pro-products copy)
650 BG Road Demon Carb
1 5/8 into 2 1/2 longtubes

Should be around 9.3 to 1 compression. I should be able to run this on 87 if my math is right on the cranking compression. Definitely not optimal, but my hodgebodge of parts as of now.

I think for what it is, it will be fun. I have very little money in this combo. Now, if only I had a complete car to put it in :bomb :nut

Sounds like a nice combo. The great thing about that CR is that if you ever want to put a little boost on the engine you should be good to go. :thu

All natural here. I've never messed with a power adder.
I'm thinking sending the heads to TEA for the 205 cnc program and either boring to a 357 or stroking to a 408. I don't know yet. I'm kinda torn between staying with the 9.5 deck or going down to the 8.2 That's the reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a real set of headers. Of course this is a long way down the road, still got a car to finish. Heck, I might be satisfied with the combo and move to another project by that time :shrug

sounds like fun to me... Did you go with an explorer rear end?

Yeah, it's just sitting where it should be to take up less space. I've yet to work out any of the details of it. I need to get busy on my car, but between work and it just being plain hot... :hs

i'd like to hear your thoughts on the pinion offset if you have any. I've been contemplating this upgrade in my 67 but im still on the fence.

I had a guy that measured his 9 inch. It was 1.5 inch offset (I forget the application). It's just another inch. Several people on other boards are successfully running the offset pinion with no ill effects. I have searched this mod for about 3 years now and have settled on the idea. I think it will be OK :shrug If I don't like it or have issues with it, I can always grab a short side axle and cut down the housing like was mentioned on this board. Luckily, the new guy we hired owns a machine shop (can you say full on roller front suspension :pbj ) and said whatever I needed done he would teach me to do it.

sounds like a nice set-up on the engine and trans. The 8.8 swap seams to be more and more popular as 9" rears are getting harder to find.

Although the short block still needs to be torn down and most definitely repainted, I couldn't resist throwing the stuff together while cleaning the garage.

Is that the engine that will soon be decorated with gold roller rockers?

That sounds like a good combo, the TFS#2 is a great cam for any 351W based motor. For another couple hundred bucks, you could turn it into a 393W and it would really rock, that cam is perfect in a stroker with good heads like those. :shrug :steer
